FOR A WIND I HAVE DREAMED
Amb. Diana Mehmeti
ITALY · ALBANIA
A lyrical journey through spring, longing, thorned meadows, the fragile touch of love, and the quiet aftermath of a dawn that never came.
A literary feature presented by the World Literature Readers Organization.
MOVEMENT I
A Wind That Brings Spring

For a wind I have dreamed, for a wind that brings spring,
I never believed that sadness could make grass grow.
For a heart I have yearned, held captive by an unlucky fate,
I may be a little hasty, but please don’t hold a grudge against me.
MOVEMENT II
Don’t Leave in Anger

Don’t leave in anger, through the meadow full of thorns;
The thorns have pierced my body, yet I cannot escape this life.
Oh, don’t be angry with the madness of poets,
For if you wish, I will give you half of my life.
MOVEMENT III
The Dawn That Never Came

How I waited like a poor man beneath the roof of the ancient night;
The moment I barely touched your hand, you made my finger bleed.
Because dawn had never come to me, I mistook you for its light;
The white day never broke, and I remained nothing but a handful of ash.
